Death Whisperer

Tee Yod

In 1972, a Thai-Chinese family living on the outskirts of an isolated village in Kanjanaburi found themselves under horrific supernatural assault on their farm. It begins with the mysterious death of a young girl and distant sighting of a mysterious woman in black by the three daughters of the family, Yad, Yam, Yee. As the days pass, the woman creeps closer to them, crossing fields and nearing their house. Her whispering of a bone-chilling prayer sound gets louder and louder – Tee Yod, Tee Yod – until Yam falls sick and begins to act strangely and increasingly violently. This is when the eldest son of the family, Yak, returns home from the army and faces an ancient evil in a race against time to save his loved ones.

Death Whisperer is supposedly based on a true story that was posted on the internet before being turned into a book. It turns out to be an atmospheric slice of folk horror that features nods to 80s classic horror, all put together with excellent production values, perfectly timed jumps scares and excellently blocked ghost appearances that make it as scary as The Conjuring films.
