Karthi sacrificed a safe life and stable marriage with a respectable woman in the Indian community to join the Malaysian film industry in the hopes of making works meaningful to him. Within a few years, he is disillusioned. His time at a commercial production company disabuses him of any notions of making art films as he sweats it out in various production-side positions on music videos and cliched TV dramas and his dream fades. As he grinds through his day he drinks more alcohol and sinks into a mire of frustration…
The sophomore feature from JAGAT (2015) director Sun-J PERUMAL, the story is set over 20 years and shows the struggles of Indian-minority filmmakers in Malaysia who face hardship and the impetus to conform to popular trends through a character study that is based on PERUMAL’s own experiences.
