Pae has a dilemma: get into university or work in the family’s flour mill. Alas, he is more capable of being craven and egotistical than smart. These qualities make him a compelling protagonist to follow as he tries to get into a university via a short film contest. His subject is classmate Joe, a nice guy who died in a tragic accident. Pae aims to make a poignant film that plucks the heartstrings of the university admission committee but he has no filmmaking experience and never really knew Joe. He has to fake it to make it, roping in Joe’s true friend, Bokeh, classmates and parents who all have high expectations. Thus begins a mad movie-making mission that Pae stakes his future on…
Director HEMWADEE’s debut film is a stylishly made school comedy that doubles as an energetic love letter to filmmaking. As Pae’s lies grow ever more bolder, watching him constantly in a spin will leave an audience breathless with laughter but there is an ever-progressing story of his moral growth as he is forced to confront issues that come with being original and selfless and learns to be a friend.
