Bambi Salvador is her family’s breadwinner, working long term as an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) in Taiwan and sending money and Balikbayan boxes back home to her ailing mother and younger siblings in Arayat, Pampanga. Unable to bear her homesickness any more, Bambi returns to the Philippines expecting to see the dream home she thought she was financing only to discover the cash has been frittered away and there are debts still to pay. With creditors calling and the family’s house at risk, a life insurance scam is put into play…


As outlandish as the situation might be (and with perfect comedic banter and Vice GANDA’s larger-than-life persona powering Bambi, it is very funny) and as wild as the swings between comedy and drama are, anyone who has ever been responsible for a household will feel Bambi’s dilemma as the film explores themes of the stress of responsibility to and love for family. The film’s theme song “Mapa” by SB19 acts as a fitting tribute to the breadwinners out there.
