Even in the ghost world, fame is everything, as discovered by Cho, a recently-deceased teen who has just 30 days to earn her “haunter’s license” or face oblivion. The method? Terrify the living with a scare good enough to gain infamy. Cho’s problem? As someone who was shy and suffering from low self-esteem while alive, scaring up screams, even while dead, is a big ask. Fortunately, she has help in learning how to haunt from the frightful figures of a talent agent and his creepy crew headed by a devilish diva who has to prove her horror cred in a rivalry with a more modern social-media savvy spook.

Thus begins a new take on the afterlife where the dead enter the celebrity economy, complete with chat shows and award ceremonies, as they compete with each other to remain relevant lest they disappear forever.
