Nina and Misaki live together as a couple in downtown Tokyo. Easygoing in nature and stylish and good-looking, they stroll the streets of Koenji together and are the envy of all their friends. Behind closed doors, trouble is brewing. It is down to Misaki’s lack of sexual desire and it seems like Misaki can only love inorganic objects. His inability to tolerate another person’s touch is severe, more so than Nina realises, and her growing need to embrace him will destabilise their relationship…
Emillet is a slow-burn story examining the theme of “whether lovers can endure a relationship without physical contact”. This is the latest work by director TANAKA Miki, who won third prize in the La Cinef section at the 2025 edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
