Xiaoxiao has ADHD. Her energy and high sensitivity make her ostracised and bullied at school and get her in trouble at home. With her father working abroad and her mother tired out, Xiaoxiao struggles to manage her relations. The one person who tries to alleviate her feelings is a handsome and kind school teacher named Paul. However, one day, during a typhoon, she spies her mother and Paul have a clandestine meeting and she decides to crash the party. This sets off the slow and complicated realisation that adults have their own difficulties, especially her mother, and Xiaoxiao must gradually adapt.
Trouble Girl is a compassionate and restrained coming-of-age drama that honestly shows the stresses and strains living with ADHD has on everyone while never losing sight that Xiaoxiao is a child, one with smarts, imagination, and dreams that she finds frustrated by the reactions of others who lack patience and empathy.
